# UK or US creators? How to check audience fit before a campaign

By Marke8 editorial | 2026-09-18

Choose creators using evidence about the audience you need to reach—not nationality, accent or profile location alone. Confirm audience geography, buyer relevance and practical product availability before agreeing a campaign.

## Creator country and audience country are different

Creator country tells you where a creator is based, when that information is known. Audience country describes the people following or viewing their content. These fields can be very different, especially for English-language accounts.

If your product ships only within the UK, a UK-based creator with mainly overseas viewers may be less suitable than expected. Equally, a creator outside the UK could have relevant UK viewers. Do not infer either situation without evidence.

## Request evidence matched to the campaign

Ask for recent platform audience insights relevant to the account and format you are considering. Note whether geography describes followers, reached accounts or viewers, and record the date range. An old account-wide breakdown is not necessarily a good description of a recent video’s audience.

Creators may not have access to every metric or may choose not to share it. “Not provided” is an honest research result. Use it to decide what to confirm, rather than treating missing data as proof that an audience is unsuitable.

| Question | Useful evidence | Avoid assuming |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Can these people buy? | Audience geography plus your delivery coverage | Creator country equals audience country |
| Does the product solve their problem? | Relevant content and substantive audience questions | A broad category label proves buyer intent |
| Will the format work? | Recent examples in the proposed format | A viral video predicts the next sponsored post |
| Is the evidence current? | Dated insights and sample periods | An undated screenshot is up to date |

## Look for a buying context, not a demographic stereotype

Describe a situation in which the product helps. A budgeting app might fit content about household planning or first-job finances; a meal kit might fit time-constrained cooking. The key question is whether the audience has a relevant problem, not whether the creator fits a superficial demographic description.

Review comments for specific questions about products, use cases and constraints. Comments can provide context, but they are not a representative audience survey. Do not infer sensitive personal characteristics or treat a few comments as a reliable demographic estimate.

## Check the practical details of the market

Before selecting UK or US creators, confirm shipping areas, currency, product availability, landing-page language and customer support hours. A strong creative concept cannot fix an offer the audience cannot access.

Build local advertising disclosure requirements into the campaign brief. Use current ASA guidance for UK campaigns and FTC guidance for US-facing work. Product-specific rules may also apply. Plan sufficient time to check factual claims and the published disclosure.

## Make uncertainty visible in the recommendation

Write the recommendation as a short argument: what the creator makes, why that is relevant, what audience evidence supports the fit and which facts still need confirmation. Keep commercial terms separate until there is a quote for the actual scope.

In Marke8, creator-country filters help you explore the directory. They do not verify audience geography. Researched profiles can be unclaimed, and participation must still be confirmed. This distinction gives brands a useful discovery starting point without turning incomplete research into a promise.
