Build the budget from confirmed deliverables and commercial terms. Separate creator fees, usage rights, expenses and a reserve. Forecast scenarios only when you can explain the evidence and assumptions behind them.
Price the scope before the follower count
Two creators with the same follower count can offer very different work. Production complexity, platform, rights, exclusivity, review rounds and delivery dates all affect what a quote includes. Start with the campaign brief so each quote answers the same question.
Ask for an itemised quote where possible. Clarify whether taxes, shipping, platform or management fees, product costs and paid amplification are included. If an item is unknown, retain a “quote needed” line instead of treating the cost as zero.
An illustrative EUR 1,000 planning envelope
The allocation below is arithmetic for planning, not a creator rate card, a Marke8 price or a promise that this scope can be purchased. Replace the amounts with confirmed quotes. It excludes taxes and paid media; account for those separately if they apply.
| Item | Illustrative allocation | Decision required |
|---|---|---|
| Creator production and agreed publication | EUR 650 | Confirm the number and scope of deliverables |
| Additional usage rights | EUR 100 | Confirm channels and duration; may not be needed |
| Products and logistics | EUR 100 | Check actual shipping and product cost |
| Uncommitted reserve | EUR 150 | Keep available for agreed changes |
| Total planning envelope | EUR 1,000 | Reallocate after quotes are confirmed |
Use evidence to compare value
First check whether the creator reaches people relevant to your product. Then review recent comparable performance and the quality of the work. Only then compare price. Cheap distribution to the wrong audience can still be poor value.
If views are your planning metric, a scenario CPM is cost divided by assumed views, multiplied by 1,000. A hypothetical EUR 200 deliverable receiving 10,000 views would have a EUR 20 CPM. That calculation does not predict views and does not establish profitability. The assumed views must be replaced with observed results after publication.
Show a range only when you have a basis for it
A low, base and high scenario can help expose uncertainty, but three invented numbers are not a forecast. Explain the sample of relevant posts, reporting window and any differences between organic and sponsored content. Do not extrapolate from a creator’s single best post.
If you lack comparable evidence, say so. Start with a learning budget and a defined question—for example, whether product demonstrations generate qualified visits—rather than promising a return range that cannot be supported.
Agree payment and change rules before work starts
Record the payment amount or agreed formula, the evidence required, the review window and what happens if a deliverable changes or a campaign is cancelled. Performance-based compensation needs explicit metric definitions, attribution rules and a process for resolving measurement disputes.
Marke8 currently uses offline payment arrangements with the team. Submitting the campaign starts coordination; it does not process a card payment. Creator payouts are managed under agreed terms. Do not assume a budget is evenly divided across creators or that a future automated payout feature is already available.
